Iceland Co-Pilot
Iceland Co-Pilot is a companion app for the 121 locations in the map set: the same field notes, on your phone, working offline in places with no signal. It is in development and not released — there is nothing to download yet, and when it does ship it is included free with any map purchase.
Where this actually stands — updated 4 August 2026
- It is being built, and some of it works. On an internal Android build: the full location set on the device with field notes, parking and access notes, a map with category pins, and arrival detection that tells you when you have reached the spot.
- It is not finished. The map still needs a connection to draw its base layer — packing Iceland's tiles for genuine offline use is the last big piece. Light windows, road and weather status and day routing are designed but not written.
- Android first. iPhone has not been started. If you shoot on an iPhone, this will not be for you at launch, and we would rather say so here than after you have paid.
- There is still no date, and no download you can get today. When there is one, everyone on this list hears first.
- It will be free with any map purchase. If you have already bought a map, you will not be asked for another payment.

Golden hour for where you are standing
Sunrise, sunset and blue-hour times computed for the specific location and date, rather than for the country as a whole.
Conditions
Road and weather status next to the pin
Vegagerðin road status and the forecast for that coordinate, so a closed mountain road is visible before the drive, not during it.
Routing
A day built from what is actually reachable
Order a day's locations by drive time and light window instead of by map distance.
What you can actually buy today
The map files, which are finished and delivered instantly. They already work offline in Gaia GPS, Garmin, Google Maps and anything else that reads KML, GPX or GeoJSON — on any phone, including the iPhone the app will not support at launch. The app is not a separate purchase and never will be: buy a map, and you get it when it ships.
